Studio Contract

There are two top priorities within the Kate Rosen Voice Studio: Giving you the tools to build your own unique sound and helping you to do it for a lifetime. Your job is to take that knowledge and apply it to your personal voice training outside of our studio work.

Singers and Families in the Kate Rosen Voice Studio agree to:

  • Respect and adhere to the policies in this document.

  • Inform directors/coaches of their vocal studies and include lesson times in conflicts for any/all activities.

  • Be good citizens of the world, treating other singers, teachers, artists, and humans with respect and kindness, valuing humans of every race, identity, orientation, body size, gender, ability, and religion.

Your KRVS Membership includes:

  • Consistent, predictable monthly tuition payments with autopay

  • 38 Lesson weeks per year at your set lesson time

  • 4 bonus weeks (in case you need to miss, or maybe just extra lessons!)

  • Marco Polo support when YOU need it - send me a video any time and I will send video feedback within 48 hours (any week that the studio is open!)

  • Individualized plans to help you set goals for the year

  • Performance opportunities and other training included in your membership

    • 1 recital

    • 1 master class

    • 1 karaoke night

  • Limited to 35 members so you get individual attention

  • Sheet music PDFs

  • Lesson note PDFs texted to you after each lesson

  • Clear communication within 24-48 hours

  • MyMusicStaff account

The studio is open for online and in-person lessons in Huntington Woods, MI. Other events (recitals, masterclasses, etc) will be a mix of online and in-person.

Enrollment:
Each student signs up for a specific time slot that repeats weekly, supporting easy planning and consistent improvement.  The only exceptions are Studio Closings, which are pre-determined at the beginning of each school year and reflected in the online MyMusicStaff calendar (access through katerosenstudio.com).

Payment:
Payments will be processed by AutoPay on MyMusicStaff on the first of each month.  Consistent late payments or failure to provide compensation may result in loss of your spot in the studio.

Missed Lessons:
Lesson times are standing appointments; a student’s lesson time is reserved for only them each week, and it is their responsibility to attend. Dance classes and sports teams do not offer reimbursements if you cannot attend a rehearsal or game – music lessons are no different.

No refunds will be given for cancelled lessons under any circumstances, nor will lessons be rescheduled.  There are four bonus weeks built into the year so that you can take time when needed, and you are always welcome to send me videos on Marco Polo for feedback. Please take care not to schedule events that will conflict with your lesson time.

Teacher absences:
There are two emergency weeks built into our calendar each year so that I can take sick days or unexpected leave without affecting your 38 lesson weeks or your 4 bonus weeks.

Beyond that, if I, the teacher, need to cancel a lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled at a mutually agreed-upon time.

Weather:
In-Person lessons: You are welcome to choose a Zoom lesson if the weather prevents you from safely traveling to the studio.

Illness:
In-Person Lessons: Stay home from your voice lesson if you are ill, even slightly.  We will revert to an online lesson at your lesson time, or you are welcome to use Marco Polo for asynchronous support. Thank you for keeping the whole studio well, so that singers can rehearse and perform with healthy voices and bodies!

Online lessons: You can Zoom into your lesson sick, as long as you feel up to it. There is lots we can do, even if you’re not feeling your best. We can discuss new repertoire, watch videos of singers and discuss technique/style differences, work on music theory - there are plenty of possibilities.

Punctuality:
If you will be late to your lesson, just contact me within the first 15 mins of your appointment time. I will be happy to wait and provide you with the portion of your lesson that you are able to attend. If I have not heard from you 15 minutes into your lesson time, your time for that day is forfeit.

Stopping lessons:
If you choose to stop taking lessons, 30 days notice is required.  If you choose to stop attending lessons before 30 days have elapsed, remaining tuition will still be due and tuition will not be refunded.

Your lesson time can’t be held if you are not enrolled, but if you need to drop lessons for a period of time and come back, you may be invited to choose from available times when you return.
